Anushka Sharma is known to choose her scripts wisely and she likes to do meaty roles that are often women-centered. But there have been times when she has rejected scripts due to other reasons too. Here are some movies rejected by Anushka that you may not know about-

1. 3 Idiots

Believe it or not, Anushka Sharma was auditioned for the role of Pia Sahastrabuddhe in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ which eventually was played by Kareena Kapoor. While auditioning somehow director Rajkumar Hirani felt that they needed a more matured actress to play the character and so Anushka was rejected. But director Rajkumar Hirani did cast Anushka 5 years later in his ‘PK’ opposite Aamir Khan.

2. Baar Baar Dekho

Director Nitya Mehra’s time travel film ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ was one of the films rejected by Anushka Sharma. Though producer Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment first approached Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone to play the lead in this romantic saga but the roles eventually went to Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra. ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ bit the dust at the box-office but Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra’s chemistry too looked sizzling on screen especially the ‘Kala Chashma’ song.


3. 2 States

We kid you not. Karan Johar wanted Anushka to play the lead in the adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel. But Anushka was not happy with the script and she turned it down. Alia Bhatt got lucky and landed up with the role opposite Arjun Kapoor. 2 States - This movie did quite well at the box office.

4. Tamasha

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone gave amazing performances in Tamasha and they undoubtedly make an amazing pair. But you will be surprised to know that Anushka was first approached by Imtiaz Ali for a film but she rejected the role as she didn’t give much thought to the film. And it was finally done by Deepika Padukone opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

5.Ki & Ka

Ki and Ka - Script for this movie was written keeping in mind Kareena as the lead. However, the makers were not sure if Kareena would accept the role, so they approached Anushka for the role first but she turned it down.
